Happy Baptism to Me!
Yay! I finally did it! Missed the last two times, and today, the big day, on a very eventful morning, the EPCC Family Day, I am finally baptised! :D No photos as yet, maybe I'll post 'em when I get 'em, but it may take a while for the photographers to compile, cause there were like lotsa photographers!
I was supposed to share a testimony, and when I did it, it was a very short one. Everyone seemed to be doing that, so I didn't wanna be the special one with a long-winded story. I was actually thinking along the lines of the following... :) Enjoy!
"Hello everyone,
My name is Euwing and I'm from Shekinah! I've been in EPCC for about 2yrs now, and as a testimony, I would like to tell you a bit of myself before I accepted Jesus, that is back in Sept 2005, almost 3yrs now. Back then, I was a shy and quiet person, and would never imagine myself standing in front of such a big crowd talking like today. I was always in my comfort zone, not wanting to be going out, doing adventurous activities, only caring for myself, etc.
But besides that, I wasn't all that innocent. I did lotsa bad things, things that are embarassing for me to share today, but the amazing thing was, many times, when I was about do to such bad things, somehow, something extraordinary happens to stop me from doing it. Time and time again, I've been reminded that there is some kinda power up there to stop me from doing all these.
But then, I was against Christianity, always finding flaws and always talking bad about it when my friends invite me to church. I was a free thinker back then, but slowly, God showed me His presence, and blessed me miraculously. I was due to come back to Malaysia mid 2005 (was studying in Australia), but because of His amazing grace, He blessed me with two great jobs, which pays me well, giving me more than enough to be staying back in Melbourne. And with the extra time spent there, I grow to know more of Him. Knowing that it is Jesus Himself who is the only one who can set me free from sin, I struggled long and hard. It was so difficult, and I could feel the deadlock in my heart, myself vs Him. I asked Jesus to come, and take control, and He did! Not long later, I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Saviour.
He's been blessing me ever since, and being here today is a great blessing itself, not to mention the Nepal mission trip, which changed the course of my life. Today, just cause I wanna be obedient, I've decided to be baptised, believing in this step of faith and hoping to grow closer to Him. Thank you!"
It's a day to remember, July 12th 2008.
